What is WAWAA?

The Welsh Asian Women Achievement Award (WAWAA) project was initiated in 2010 and the first awards were given in November 2011 and the most recent awards were given in April 2013. They came about following the realisation that there was urgent need to recognise the contributions of Welsh Asian Women and to celebrate the success of talented Welsh Asian Women in all walks of life.

The WAWAA mission statement:

To empower Asian women throughout Wales and to promote and applaud their representation in all aspects of Welsh life.

To provide a system that recognises those Asian women who have (a) made a significant contribution to Wales and to Welsh life; and (b) those that have made effective use of their talents to help inspire others around them.

The WAWAA scheme plans to provide and award system that recognises those Asian Welsh women, who have made significant contributions to Wales and to Welsh life, as well as making effective use of their talents to help inspire and support others around them.
